Q. What are the benefits of Karate training?
A. On top of gaining self-defence skills, you will steadily increase flexibility and agility. Your stamina and energy level will shoot up as the training improves your cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength.
The benefits do not stop at the physical level. By practising and focusing on various skills required for this martial art you will develop both physical and mental coordination, concentration and self-control. With all these comes naturally confidence of right sort.
Younger people will especially benefit while enjoying the practice as they get to meet and work with others with discipline and respect in a safe environment.
Q. Can anyone practice Karate?
A. Anyone who is healthy enough to participate in moderate activities can join our club.
Every individual has a different constitution, abilities and targets. We will be happy to help you find your own way to enjoy Karate as a physical and mental activity and even a spiritual experience.
If you are unsure about your health condition, it is always a good idea to consult your GP.
Minimum age we set is 6 years old. This is because we feel that most children under 6 do not have physical and mental maturity to practise martial arts. However, when a child (not the parent!) under this age truly has passion and is willing to work along with the other members, we will be happy to make an exception and help the little "Karate-ka" pursue his/her dream!
Q. How much will it cost to learn Karate?
A. Compared to many other sports and physical activities, Karate is not expensive since there is almost no equipment involved.
In Yui-Shin Karate Club, the initial membership fee, which goes to ISKF/UK for you to be licensed and insured to practice, is £23 for a child and £25 for an adult.
